Recent News!Annie B McKee has entered the second year as Executive Director of Meridian Railroad Museum and she threw herself into it all.
Annie B encourages all ages to visit the museum and learn why Meridian is Meridian. The kids will enjoy a ride on the museum's miniature train and the adults will learn why Meridian is no longer called Sowashee Junction. Come and venture into the mid-1800s, see the sights, hear the train whistle and meet the people if only through images and storytelling. |

Anne McKee is a storyteller, free-lance writer and published author. Ninety-Eight percent of her work is inspired by "her life in the south lane." Southern humor ribbons through the majority of her originally written short stories, plays, skits, vignettes, and newspaper columns.
Anne B. McKee has been selected as recipient of the 2017 DAR's National Historic Preservation Recognition Award. This great honor recognizes Anne's 25 years as a storyteller who features Mississippi's history. Anne 's storytelling work specializes in all-things-Mississippi. Her stories and plays are for all ages, from Pre-K through senior citizens. She visits Mississippi public libraries and schools telling the stories of Mississippi and includes all listeners (if they are willing) as participants by dressing them in costumes which she will bring with her that day. During 2017, she will tell stories featuring Mississippi's 200th birthday celebrations any where in the State. Anne is listed as a Performing Artist on Mississippi Arts Commission's Roster and as well on the Mississippi Humanities Speaker's Bureau. In July 2008, she was selected for The Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC), Artist Roster. In 2009, she was named to the Teaching Artist Roster. In these positions, Anne McKee's creative work is recommended by MAC, and in part, her fees are funded by grants through MAC. In October 2008, Anne signed a contract with Turner Publishing Company, Nashville, to author Historic Photos of Mississippi . The book published May, 2009. Anne has traveled the state of Mississippi since that time promoting the book with readings and book signings. She has visited many independent book stores, book store chains, schools, historical institutions, museums, and civic organizations telling her stories about Mississippi with the assistance of the photos published in Historic Photos of Mississippi. Contact her through this web site to come to your organization or place of business and introduce (through the 200 original photos dated between 1860 and 1970) a time and place called Mississippi.
Anne writes a weekly editorial for The Meridian Star , and her work can be read in Mississippi Magazine, Today's Mississippi Woman, Oxford So & So Southern Journal, the Magnolia Quarterly, and Women On Writing. In addition, she has work included in the following anthologies: Pets Across America, Volume I & II, Sweet Tea and Afternoon Tales, Teacakes and Afternoon Tales, Brick Streets Press, 2010 Winners Circle, and Magnolia Blossoms and Afternoon Tales.
